SALT LAKE CITY — A West Valley man was arrested Thursday after police say he threatened a woman with a baseball bat during a road rage incident.
Nicholas P. Treadwell, 46, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault and operating a vehicle without insurance.
A woman called police about 7 p.m. Thursday to report that Treadwell had been tailgating her in heavy traffic and was "aggressively trying to pass" her in a construction zone. "The victim reported that (he) followed her from I-215 and I-80 to approximately 700 N. Redwood Road," a police booking affidavit states.
When she stopped at a red light, Treadwell allegedly got out of his vehicle with a baseball bat and approached the driver and yelled at her.
"The victim then stated (he) began to hit her driver's side window with the bat attempting to break the glass. The victim stated she thought (he) was trying to break the glass so he could harm her," according to the affidavit.
The woman recorded the incident on her cellphone and recorded the man returning to his vehicle and driving away. Police said they identified Treadwell, arrested him at his home and seized a red baseball bat from his vehicle.
