SOUTH SALT LAKE — A shooting near a Utah Transit Authority bus station in South Salt Lake on Friday evening left a teenager with critical injuries, and police are searching for the suspects.
About 9 p.m., the shooting happened at the UTA bus loop for the Meadowbrook Station, said UTA spokesman Gavin Gustafson.
A group of teens in a car got into an altercation with another group at the stop; one person was shot and transported to a hospital in critical condition, Gustafson said.
The group of juveniles, including the gunman in the car, took off, and South Salt Lake police were looking for them late Friday.
"The local police have a pretty good idea of their vehicle and are currently pursuing it," Gustafson said.
Authorities believe about three suspects were involved in the shooting, according to Gustafson.
A bus bridge was activated from Millcreek to Murray Central due to the shooting, causing delays.
UTA police are handling the investigation.
