TOOELE — A person was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Tooele, police announced Tuesday night.

The Tooele Police Department said it is investigating an auto-pedestrian crash that turned deadly near 1000 N. Main Street.

Police said the crash has prompted several delays in the area.

"All southbound traffic is currently shut down and is expected to stay shut down for the next several hours," the department wrote on its Facebook page just before 8:45 p.m.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes while crews are on scene.
