CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy — As Team USA arrived in Italy for the start of the opening ceremony in the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics, KSL took a first look at the Cortina Olympic Village.
Just north of Cortina, the Olympic Village sits between views of sharp mountaintops — the famous Dolomites. The village supports approximately 1,400 athletes and is supported by approximately 100 volunteers.
The town, made up of nearly 400 made-in-Italy mobile homes designed with wooden exteriors to reflect and complement the surrounding Alpine environment. A large yurt centers the village, serving as a lounge for athletes to relax and enjoy the views.

"It's awesome. I really like the little trailer, like, mobile vibes. It doesn't ruin the beautiful look of the valley around us," an athlete said Friday, "and it's a lot of fun getting to know everybody past and present."
An entertainment plaza is also available to athletes just outside the dining area, where athletes can enjoy a photo booth, watch the Games, play video games, or even take on a pin quest — all exclusive to the athletes. It's rumored that pin collecting is a big deal among them.
Olympians can also stop by and meet the village snowman, who has been dubbed "The Duke of the Dolomites."
Unlike past Olympics, the Milan Cortina Olympics contains multiple Olympic villages, with three others located more north in Anterselva, Livingo and Milan.
