SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was hospitalized Monday in "extremely critical" condition after being hit by a truck while walking in a crosswalk at the 1500 East and 1300 South intersection, police said.

The woman, who hasn't been identified, is in her mid-50s, according to a social media post from Salt Lake police. The crash happened before 10 a.m.

With the investigation ongoing, police said the intersection will be closed for a couple of hours and are asking the public to avoid the area.
