SPANISH FORK — A 17-year-old was stabbed at a homecoming dance at Maple Mountain High School in Spanish Fork Saturday night, police said.

The Spanish Fork Police Department said officers were dispatched to the school after reports of a stabbing at 9:21 p.m.

"It was reported that during the school's Homecoming Dance, an altercation took place in a parking lot east of the school between several juveniles," the department said. "Officers arrived along with Spanish Fork Fire and EMS to find a 17-year-old male who had been stabbed in the leg by another juvenile."

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said, and the alleged suspect in the stabbing fled. That teen was taken into custody a short time later.

"The suspect is a 16-year-old juvenile and is being booked into Slate Canyon Detention Center for aggravated assault," the department said. "This case is still under investigation."
