LA SAL, San Juan County — Officials have identified skeletal remains found in San Juan County as Jamey Eugene Holyoak, who went missing after last being seen in La Sal in 2022.

Deputies said skeletal remains were found somewhere in the county on Thursday. After the State Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the remains were human, dental records were used to identify Holyoak, deputies said in a press release.

Holyoak was last seen on April 15, 2022, in La Sal, according to the state Department of Public Safety's cold cases database.

"Jamey has not been heard from or seen since that date," the website states. "We believe that Jamey was experiencing homelessness at the time of his disappearance. Jamey was age 47 when he went missing."

Deputies said Holyoak's next of kin had been notified of the discovery of his remains, and extended "condolences to the Holyoak family at this time."

More information was not released because the investigation is ongoing.
