WEST VALLEY CITY — Two men were arrested Tuesday in West Valley City after investigators reported finding approximately 100,000 fentanyl pills in one of their rooms.

Andrew Estefan Valle Acosta, 19, and Elvin Isasc Vega Zuniga, 20, were each booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of drug possession with intent to distribute.

The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation by the Wasatch Metro Drug Task Force, which consists of agents from the Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force and the FBI.

"During the investigation, two narcotics traffickers were identified, Elvin Isaac Vega Zuniga and Andrew Estefan Valle Acosta," a police booking affidavit states.

On Tuesday, a search warrant was served on a residence in West Valley City.

"During the execution of the search warrant, approximately 100,000 fentanyl pills were located in Acosta's bedroom," according to the affidavit. Both men allegedly "admitted to distributing fentanyl and possessing the fentanyl located in the home with intent to distribute it on behalf of (a drug trafficking organization) in exchange for payment."

Police say both men have ties to Honduras and Vega is not in the country legally.

No other information was immediately available.
