ST. GEORGE — Park City Film Studios recently provided Utah Tech University with a highly advanced piece of technology for its digital film program.

The acquisition could also shed light on how Utah's filmmaking future could be a bright one, university officials said.

In a recent press release, the university stated that the new tech, the ROE Visual Black Pearl LED Volume, will give students hands-on experience with state-of-the-art, Hollywood-grade equipment and opportunities for industry collaboration.

The LED wall is currently set up in Studio B of the Jennings Communication Building on the Utah Tech campus and will be shared with the Digital Media Program.

"This exact type of LED wall was used to film the 'Mandalorian,' 'Westworld' and 'Star Trek' and will be the mainstay of virtual production for Utah Tech," Park City Film Studios general counsel Greg S. Ericksen stated. "The wall and lighting will be synced to Unreal Engine and Moy's motion capture equipment to give Utah Tech the ability to learn and create projects just like Hollywood studios.
