SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man was charged Thursday with entering a stranger's house and forcing the homeowner to perform a sex act.

Semis Tapueluelu, 39, is charged in 3rd District Court with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and forcible sodomy, first-degree felonies.

On July 13, a man reported to Salt Lake police that he was in his residence near 900 South and 200 West when there was a knock at the door. The victim, who is in his 50s, cracked open the door and Tapueluelu then forced his way inside and demanded the man perform a sex act, according to charging documents.

"(The man) reported he did not know Tapueluelu and had never seen him before. (He) told Tapueluelu 'no' and Tapueluelu pushed his way into his residence," the charges allege. The man told Tapueluelu "that he didn't know who he was and told Tapueluelu that he needed to leave."

After sexually assaulting the victim, Tapueluelu began walking around the man's house and "asked for money and demanded his credit card and narcotics," the charges state. When Tapueluelu went into the bathroom, the homeowner called 911.

When he came out of the bathroom, Tapueluelu "picked up a screwdriver and swung it around" before rummaging through drawers and asking for drugs and food, according to the charges.

A short time later, police arrived at the residence and took Tapueluelu into custody.

"(Tapueluelu's) actions are egregious and make him a serious risk to the community at large. (He) has ties to California and an extensive criminal history," prosecutors stated in their charges while requesting that he be held in the Salt Lake County Jail without the possibility of posting bail pending trial.
