SANTA CLARA, Washington County — A neighborhood was reportedly shaken after a vehicle crashed into the living room of a Santa Clara, Washington County, residence on Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m., when emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence on West Canyon View Drive after a vehicle crashed into the front of a house.

Emergency responders said they arrived to find a red Dodge Durango had crashed into a retaining wall outside and then was stopped by the house.

The vehicle stopped partially inside of the living room of the home, after taking out the support beams securing an overhang covering the entrance to the home.

Santa Clara-Ivins police detective Mike Pondoyo told St. George News the driver, a woman in her 50s, told officers she had just gotten off work and was driving home when she fell asleep at the wheel.

Neither the driver nor the occupants of the residence reported any serious injuries at the scene. The front of the home sustained extensive structural damage in the crash, while the SUV sustained heavy frontal damage.
