LEHI — A Lehi neighborhood is mourning the heartbreaking loss of a 14-year-old girl, who passed away over the weekend after being struck by a car on May 30 near the Lehi Rodeo Grounds.

Jenna Sharp had just enjoyed a joyful evening with friends at a youth dance when the tragic accident occurred. After a week in the hospital, she was taken off life support on Saturday.

A community in mourning

Outside the Sharp family home, the streets are lined with flags, hearts, posters, ribbons and handwritten messages of love and remembrance.

"We grieve as a community, and we support each other as a community," said neighbor Jacob Quinn.

"Heartbreaking," added Ashley Bernal, who called it "such a tragic accident."

"We're just so heartbroken about Jenna and the Sharp family," said Celeste Larsen.

Honoring Jenna's legacy

Jenna's impact on those around her was profound.

"She was just such a good person. She was kind to everyone," Larsen said.

Jenna's family said as a result of her donating her organs, she saved the lives of six people.

On Saturday, neighbors gathered for a flag-raising ceremony in her honor. At the Larsen's home, a donor flag now flies high.

"It was really fun to hear what she meant to everybody around here," Larsen shared as she talked about what happened during the ceremony.

Outside the Quinn home, a French flag waves in the air — a tribute to Jenna's trip to France last year and a nod to the country where Quinn and his wife once served a mission.

"That's partly why we put up our French flag here, just as a way to show our love and one of the special things we got to share with her," Quinn said.

Remembering a bright light

"(She was) full of life. Just light up a room kind of girl," Bernal said, remembering Jenna's vibrant spirit.

The Sharp family expressed deep gratitude for the community's support during this unimaginable time.

Jenna's funeral is scheduled for this Saturday.
