LAYTON — A 64-year-old man was injured after falling 20 feet while hiking Monday.

The man was hiking with his family when he fell about 20 feet off of the lower waterfall in Adams Canyon, according to Davis County sheriff's spokeswoman Stephanie Dinsmore.

A nurse and other bystanders immediate began providing aid to the man until rescue crews arrived, the Layton Fire Department said in a social media post. He was hoisted by a medical helicopter to the parking lot and then taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.

The man suffered "some injuries," according to Dinsmore, but more information about his condition was not available.

"We're grateful for the quick actions of bystanders and the teamwork among all responding agencies," the post by Layton firefighters said. "As a reminder, please stay safe while hiking. Be prepared for changing trail and weather conditions, and always hike with caution near water and steep terrain."
