GRANTSVILLE — People are cleaning up from last weekend's high winds across the state of Utah.

Winds were so strong in Grantsville that one family was left without a home.

Mother's Day celebrations abruptly came to an end when the winds picked up on Sunday. Natasha Seat learned from a phone call that a tree had crashed into her front room.

"It just fell straight down along the side of the house," Seat said. "My son left like 20 minutes before it happened. So had he still been in there, (the tree) would have fallen on him."

The damage was significant. Seat and her son watched as crews removed the tree from her home.

"Watching it fall and all my stuff falling out — that was kind of traumatic," Seat said. "I've heard about, like, the trampolines blowing away and stuff like that, but I haven't actually seen anything this bad."

They'll have to move. In the meantime, she's staying with her mom.

"I have a camp trailer in the back of my mom's on the back of my mom's property," Seat said. "But there's no heat back there, so my dogs are what's keeping me warm."

Seat says she hopes for a less eventful Mother's Day next year.

A GoFundMe* has been set up to benefit the family and their neighbors, who were also impacted by wind damage.
