SOUTH SALT LAKE — A South Salt Lake father has been arrested and accused of causing his infant child to have multiple brain bleeds.
Michael Thomas Henderson, 28, was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of aggravated child abuse and child endangerment.
On Wednesday, police were called to Primary Children's Hospital after an infant was admitted "with multiple brain bleeds and was unable to breathe without assistance. The parents of the victim were unable to provide a feasible reason for the injuries," according to a police booking affidavit.
Police say the infant is a boy less than 1 year old.
Henderson, who is the child's primary caregiver during the day, eventually "admitted to shaking the infant earlier in the day after losing patience with the child," the affidavit states.
Police later served a search warrant on Henderson's home, where officers "discovered large amounts of drug paraphernalia where the infant is frequently exposed to the paraphernalia and illegal drug use," according to the affidavit.
