SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released on Monday an exterior rendering of its new temple in Lehi.
The rendering of the temple shows a white stone exterior with gold accents, topped with a gold pyramid. The announcement, which came from the church's First Presidency, said the temple will be about 85,000 square feet.
The Lehi Utah Temple, announced in April 2024, will be built on 22.48 acres on the north side of Lehi, in the foothills at 3950 North and Center Street. The church announced Monday that a new meetinghouse will also be built on the lot.
Ceremonies conducted in the temple teach members of the church about the purpose of life and unite families, both past and present, the church said in the announcement.
The Lehi temple is one of 31 temples in Utah, including those that are still being constructed or renovated and those that are announced. Right now, temples are under construction in Ephraim, Heber Valley, Lindon, Smithfield and Syracuse, along with two being renovated — the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple and the Salt Lake Temple.
The Church of Jesus Christ announced temples in Lehi, Price and West Jordan in 2024. Groundbreaking ceremonies have not been held for those announced temples yet.
