WHITE CITY — Police are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old injured Thursday evening.

About 5 p.m., police received a report of shots fired near Big Bear Park, 930 E. Onyx Lane. Unified Police Sgt. Aymee Race said shell casings were located at the scene and witnesses reported two vehicles fleeing the area.

Shortly after, police were informed of a 17-year-old at a local hospital with a "gunshot wound to an extremity." The teen's injuries do not appear life-threatening, Race said.

Investigators with the Unified Police Department are looking into what led to the shooting and attempting to identify suspects.

The incident was isolated and possibly gang related, Race said. There is no danger to the public, she added.
