MONTICELLO — The former branch manager of the San Juan Credit Union is accused of stealing more than $200,000 from the branch.
Eric Stash, 35, of Aneth, San Juan County, was charged Friday in Utah's 7th District Court with 41 counts of theft, 22 second-degree felonies and 19 third-degree felonies.
Stash resigned from his leadership position in January. According to charging documents, he allegedly admitted a day after resigning that he had stolen about $170,000.
But after an audit, investigators learned from January 2021 through July 2023, Stash had actually stolen nearly $241,000, the charges state. He took money 41 times during that time period, prosecutors say, and on 22 of those occasions, stole more than $5,000 at a time.
