CEDAR CITY — Iron County's Quilts of Valor chapter recently honored four local military veterans with handcrafted patriotic quilts.
The first quilt was presented Sept. 9 at Cedar City's National Guard Armory, when members of the Iron County Veterans Coalition gathered for a Patriot Day dinner.
Then, on Sept. 13 at the Cedar City Information Center, approximately two dozen people gathered as three more quilts were presented.
Locally, several such quilts are made and given out each year, said Esmeralda Carter, a retired U.S. Navy Gulf War veteran who is also the group leader of Iron County's Quilts of Valor chapter, known as Patches4Patriots.
