PROVO — A 41-year-old soccer coach in Utah County has been arrested and charged with abusing a 14-year-old player.

Aaron Villasenor, of Pleasant Grove, was booked into the Utah County Jail on Wednesday and charged Thursday in 4th District Court with four counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.

On July 2, Provo police were asked to investigate Villasenor for "trying to groom a 14-year-old player by convincing her to be his girlfriend. Aaron is her soccer coach," a police booking affidavit states.

The girl's mother told investigators that her daughter received private lessons from Villasenor.

"She said that her daughter came to her and told her that (Aaron) wanted her to be his girlfriend. Her daughter told her that they would text each other, and he would call her pet names and say he loves her," the affidavit states.

When detectives questioned Villasenor, he admitted to kissing and inappropriately touching the girl and made statements such as it being "my fault" and that he was "not thinking," according to the affidavit.

"Aaron told me that he has never done this to any other player. He stated that the victim was special, and he fell in love with her," the affidavit alleges.

Villasenor was taken into custody after being interviewed.
