OGDEN — Two people died and three others have been transported to the hospital after a collision Saturday afternoon shut down Ogden Canyon Road.

At about 1 p.m., an SUV towing a boat was headed east up the narrow canyon road when it collided with a bulldozer being transported on the back of a truck heading the opposite direction, Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Jared Heywood said. The bulldozer fell off the truck and into the SUV, he said.

Details as to what caused the bulldozer to come off the truck were not immediately available.

The canyon road, state Route 39, was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The identities of the deceased victims have not been released, but Heywood said the three people taken to the hospital had non-life-threatening injuries.
