WEST VALLEY CITY — Two people were killed in a crash on the Mountain View Corridor on Wednesday.

Just before 10:30 p.m., a semitruck collided with a car near 3500 South, killing two adults inside the car, according to West Valley police. The driver of the semitruck was not injured.

Police say Ronald J. Nelson, 77, and his 78-year-old wife, Lani Jeanne Nelson, were westbound on 3500 South in their Buick sedan when they were struck by the semitruck headed south on the Mountain View Corridor. Witnesses told investigators that the Buick ran a red light, according to police.

The road in the area of the crash was shut down until about 4:30 a.m. Thursday while officers investigated the incident.
