SALT LAKE CITY — Republican Rachel Terry, who is running for Utah attorney general, has the endorsement of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

"Rachel is a conservative fighter and a great legal mind," Paxton said in his Thursday endorsement of the Republican.

The press release said Terry, who announced her candidacy Jan. 4, "has committed to stand with Texas against the continued encroachment of the federal government," in matters of immigration at the nation's southern border. Terry is currently the Director of the Utah Division of State Risk Management and previously served as an attorney at the Utah Attorney General's Office in civil rights cases.

Terry, Derek Brown, Trent Christensen and Frank Mylar have filed as Republicans in the race for Utah attorney general. Rudy Bautista and David Carlson are the Democrat candidates.

Andrew McCullough filed as a Libertarian, Austin Hepworth filed as unaffiliated and Michelle Quist filed with the United Utah party.
