SALT LAKE CITY — The final part of the regular season has arrived, and the playoff push is just beginning.

But some players are already in playoff form, as featured this week in the KSL.com high school hoops players of the week, presented by Clean Simple Eats.

Boys Player of the Week: Cooper Lewis, Lehi Pioneers

A four-game scoring outburst totaling 135 points made Lehi guard Cooper Lewis an easy choice for the boys player of the week. The 6-foot-1 wing scored a career-high 47 points in a victory over American Fork, and totaled 37 more with eight 3-pointers against Westlake before adding 26 points with six more triples in Lehi's 77-66 loss to Skyridge Friday.

Lewis capped it off with a 25-point performance against Lone Peak Tuesday night.

"He's playing on another level right now," Lehi head coach Quincy Lewis said. "It makes you a little smarter as a coach when you have a guy like that."

The younger Lewis deferred his recent success to his teammates. "Obviously, we weren't at the level we needed to be (tonight), but it feels great to continue playing at this level personally."

The Pioneers now turn their attention to Friday's home game against Pleasant Grove.

Girls Player of the Week: Ellie Taylor, Copper Hills

One of the underrated girls basketball stories of the year has been the Copper Hills Grizzlies, who are now 16-1 following a 50-25 rout over Riverton Tuesday night.

But it's the play of guard Ellie Taylor that has caught many people's attention, which yields her the girls player of the week honors. The senior and Utah Tech commit who had 20 points Tuesday night against the Silverwolves, credited her teammates and coaches for bringing her to this point.

"I've changed so much as a player because of them," she said.

Her commitment to the Trailblazers is another example of just how far Taylor's come. "It just shows that your work gets noticed," she said.

Her head coach, Jake Timpson, said he's proud of the growth Taylor has made into his program. Taylor has been a starter on the varsity team since she was a freshman — Timpson's first year at the school.

"Every year, people try to take the ball out of her hands, and she still gets 20 points a game," Timpson said. "That's just one of the many testaments to how hard she works."

The Grizzlies will face Herriman on the road Thursday night.
