SALT LAKE CITY — Two key board members are leaving the Utah Inland Port Authority's board of directors, the agency announced Friday.
The departure of newly minted House Speaker Mike Schultz, R-Hooper, is effective immediately and will be followed closely by the departure of Miles Hansen, board chairman and former CEO of the World Trade Center Utah, according to a news release from the port authority. Hansen's role will conclude on Jan. 9, 2024.
The release said that Schultz has been "a pivotal force behind UIPA's success."
"Mike's role in shaping the inland port and its achievements cannot be overstated," Ben Hart, executive director of Utah Inland Port Authority, said in the statement. "His support and guidance have been fundamental in building our relationships and driving progress. We are immensely grateful for his dedication and the proactive approach he brought to our endeavors."
Hansen served as the first board chairman after the authority's reorganization in 2022, and the release says he played a "crucial role" in guiding the Utah Inland Port Authority through the restructuring.
"Miles' commitment to transparency and equitable stakeholder engagement has greatly reinforced our values of accountability and respect," Hart said in the statement. "His innovative thinking and dedication to sustainable growth have been instrumental in advancing UIPA's objectives."
The board will name its new members at the next board meeting on Jan. 10, 2024.
