SANDY — A man was shot and killed by law enforcers inside a senior living center in Sandy on Friday.
According to Sandy police, the U.S. Marshals' Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team had received information that a wanted fugitive was at Silver Pines Senior Community, 735 E. 11000 South.
Just after 1 p.m., agents found the man they were looking for, which led to some type of confrontation, and the man was shot and killed by agents, Sandy Police Sgt. Greg Moffitt said.
Additional details, such as what prompted the shooting and whether the deceased man was a resident of the senior center, were not immediately released.
The officer-involved critical incident protocol was invoked, which will be led in this case by West Valley police.
