KEARNS — A road rage confrontation in Kearns on Monday ended with a driver being shot at and a bullet narrowly missing his head, according to police.

A 24-year-old man and a woman were driving southbound on 5400 South just after 3 p.m. when they noticed a car driven by 23-year-old Dravin Paul Robinson "swerving in and out of traffic and driving recklessly," according to a police booking affidavit.

The man and Robinson pulled up next to each other at 5400 South and 5200 West and started yelling at each other, the affidavit states.

"The victims reported (Robinson) then pulled in front of their vehicle, slammed on his brakes, then got back into the lane next to them. (He) fired a single shot through the passenger side of his vehicle, shattering the front passenger window. The male victim was hit with the bullet in the bill of his hat, which he was wearing. The female passenger was not struck."

An officer responding to the area found the victim who "said he almost got shot in the head. The male victim showed me his hat, and I observed the rim was damaged and frayed," the affidavit states.

Robinson was located sitting in his car on the corner of Rockford Street and Highwood Drive. A gun and shell casing were found in the vehicle.

"(Robinson) asked multiple times if the other people were OK, and said he was sorry it had to get to that point," according to the affidavit.

He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of shooting at someone, two counts of aggravated assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
