ST GEORGE — A 7-year-old girl was hit by a car Sunday after chasing a ball into the street.

St. George police say the incident happened about 8 p.m. near 900 S. Morningside Drive. A 7-year-old girl kicked a soccer ball into the road and was hit by a pickup truck when she went to retrieve it.

Police say the girl suffered "significant" injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital in Las Vegas. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

No additional details were released.
