PROVO — The Provo Bulldogs took down region foes Salem Hills in a 35-0 sweep Friday night.

With five total touchdowns, four of which were scored in a combined effort by running back Feitagai Lesa and wide receiver Kyle Larsen, the Bulldogs dominated the field in their first region matchup of the 2023 season.

After the Bulldogs' first touchdown by Lesa, Salem Hills got down to Provo's 45-yard line and attempted a field goal, but the attempt was blocked by Provo linebacker Treden Eyre to stop any hopes of an early score.

And it didn't get any better for Salem Hills.

On the first play of the ensuing drive for Provo, Larsen found the end zone to give the Bulldogs an early 14-0 lead. By the end of the first half, Provo had a commanding 28-0 lead and never looked back.

In a lone highlight, Salem Hills defensive end Alex Cloward made an interception that he returned to the Bulldogs' 1-yard line, but the Skyhawks couldn't do anything with the defensive turnover.

It was a night to forget for Salem Hills.

Meanwhile, Provo bounced back from a close loss to rival Timpview a week before with an improved level of physicality, according to Provo head coach Kirk Chambers.

"With running the ball and getting in the backfield and punishing their safeties, I thought that was very impressive by our running back and our blockers downfield and our offensive line up front," Chambers said.

Provo will travel to California next week to take on Clovis East, which will be the first out-of-state game for the Bulldogs this season. As for the Skyhawks, they will play Payson in another region game at home.
