TOOELE — A 51-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a car while cycling early Tuesday.
The collision occurred near 2100 North and Main Street around 5:15 a.m., when the cyclist was struck by a car being driven by a 44-year-old man, said Tooele Police Cpl. Colbey Bentley.
The cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital, then transported via helicopter to a Salt Lake area hospital.
"It's fair to say (his condition was) critical," Bentley said, but he didn't have any updates on the man's current condition.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this point, Bentley said, there's no evidence saying the driver was at fault.
"There was no reflector on the bike and at that time it was still pretty dark. So, it was likely that he didn't even see him until it was too late," he said.
Investigators haven't identified either of the men.
