SNOWVILLE, Box Elder County — A propane heater that accidentally tipped over inside a motor home started a large fire early Monday that destroyed the vehicle and resulted in the death of a dog.
About 6:15 a.m., a 58-year-old woman from Washington was sleeping in a motor home parked at a Flying J Travel Center, 90 S. Stone Road, "when she accidentally tipped over a propane heater and caught a blanket on fire," according to the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office.
The woman received minor burns to her hands and face while trying to get her dog out, but she was unsuccessful.
"The dog was later found deceased inside the motorhome. The motorhome and all items inside were completely destroyed by the fire," the sheriff's office said.
A second vehicle parked next to the motor home was also damaged by the fire. The woman was taken to Bear River Valley Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
