PLAIN CITY, Weber County — Firefighters responded to a four-story industrial building fire at Compass Minerals in western Weber County on Wednesday night.
A plant worker went to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation, said Weber Fire District Deputy Chief David Reed. The employee initially smelled smoke and called 911, according to a Weber Fire District Facebook post. No other injuries were reported.
The total damage is unknown, Reed said, but there are concerns about the roof of the building at 765 N. 10500 West in unincorporated Weber County near the Great Salt Lake.
The fire was called in at 5:55 pm. Reed confirmed the fire was under control as of around 7:45 pm. An investigation has begun for the cause of the fire with no known leads yet, he said.
Responders came from the Weber Fire District, Ogden, Riverdale and Hill Air Force Base fire departments and the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
