SALT LAKE CITY — An elderly woman was found dead at a bus stop after being released from the hospital hours earlier Sunday.
About 7 a.m., police responded to reports of someone motionless at a bus stop at 100 S. 1000 East. A woman, approximately in her 60s, was found deceased, police say.
The woman was wearing a hospital band from Salt Lake Regional Hospital where she had been released hours earlier, according to police, who added the woman likely suffered a medical episode.
"The theory or speculation at this point is that she slipped or fell and laid out there and froze to death," said Carl Arky, UTA spokesperson. "It's a sad, sad story."
The incident is not considered suspicious, according to police.
The woman's identity was not released.
