SALT LAKE CITY — A mailman was assaulted and robbed on Friday afternoon in Salt Lake City by people with handguns, according to a U.S. Postal Inspection Service press release.
The mail carrier was not physically harmed, but reported feeling shaken up.
The postal service is offering up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robbers.
The incident occurred Friday afternoon at about 2:10 p.m at 1375 Concord St. The robbers left the scene in a gray or silver Dodge Charger; some witnesses who saw the car leaving and it was also seen on some doorbell cameras, according to the USPS.
The robbers should be considered dangerous and people should not attempt to apprehend them on their own, postal service officials said.
Assaulting a mail carrier could come with a punishment of up to 25 years in prison.
