SALT LAKE CITY — A crash involving a bus and multiple cars Thursday afternoon has left one person with critical injuries and three others with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, Salt Lake police said.
The multivehicle crash on 300 W. North Temple in downtown Salt Lake City closed 300 West in all directions for several hours, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
A driver of one of the cars was the one who suffered critical injuries, police say. The driver was taken to the hospital.
"There are two people on the bus who suffered minor injuries, and then the bus driver also suffered injuries as well," Salt Lake police spokesman Brent Weisberg said.
Dustin Posell was in one of the cars in the crash.
"I heard a crash … and then saw the bus coming straight at us," Posell told KSL-TV. "Hit the car next to me and then that car hit into my car."
Posell said there was no time to react.
According to police, a car collided with the bus which then caused the bus to go off-course.
"Witnesses are telling us that that driver hit the bus and then the bus careened and hit two other cars," Weisberg said. "We are investigating to see if that person had a medical condition right before the crash."
