LINDON — Four more teenagers have been arrested in the death of 16-year-old boy who was killed during the early morning hours of Aug. 1.

While Lindon police continue to be very tight-lipped about the homicide and have not even released the identity of the 16-year-old victim in the case, social media sites indicate that Gavin Hone, 16, died on Monday morning in a tragic incident.

One GoFundMe account* was shared on social media stating that "Gavin was a smart, funny, energetic, kind, loving and thoughtful 16 year old boy."

As of Thursday, five "individuals" — all between the ages of 16 and 17 — had been arrested in connection with the death.

"All five individuals who have been arrested were involved in the circumstances surrounding the death of the victim," Lindon police said in a prepared statement. "The investigation is still active as we work through further information."

Police declined to identify any of the five suspects and also specifically declined to say what crimes the five are accused of committing.

What Lindon police have said is that the incident occurred about 2 a.m. on Aug. 1 when two groups met at the pavilion at the Lindon View Murdock Canal Trailhead. A fight broke out and a 16-year-old boy ended up in the hospital where he later died.

Lindon Police Chief Mike Brower said someone in one of the groups made contact with another family member, who alerted law enforcement and medical personnel.

"His injuries were the result of an altercation with other individuals," Brower said. "Can't disclose the mechanism of injury."

A second GoFundMe account* describes Hone as a "loving, kind-hearted boy with a larger-than-life personality. On Monday. Aug. 1, Gavin was taken from us much too soon. His passing has created an incredible void in so many lives, but none more so than with his beautiful family."

"Middle of the night phone calls rarely bring good news. This post is sadly, not different" another Facebook post states. "During the wee hours Monday morning, hubby and I got the call no grandparent ever expects or should receive. Our grandson had been killed in a senseless act of violence. Please join us in offering prayers and support to our extended family as we try to navigate through these stormy days and find some meaning in this unspeakable tragedy."

In another post, a woman who described Hone as her nephew said he was "a great kid with the rest of his life to live and he will be greatly missed!"

Brower said the boy who was killed and the first boy who was arrested are not from Lindon and said that a gun was not used in the crime. No other details have been provided about the other four suspects.
