WEST JORDAN — Police have arrested a woman who they say shot her husband in the shoulder and then tried to shoot him in the head.

Trish Ann Andreen, 42, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, intoxication and aggravated assault resulting in serious injury,

Sometime between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday, police say an argument between Andreen and her husband came to a head. Both had allegedly been drinking and arguing all night to that point.

"Trish threatened to kill the victim stating she would shoot him. The two argued and fought off and on throughout the night," according to a police booking affidavit.

The argument culminated when Andreen shot her husband in the shoulder, the affidavit states. Her husband attempted to run out of the house to get away. Andreen followed and police say she put the gun to her husband's head and attempted to fire again.

"Trish showed a propensity to commit murder by stating earlier in the night she was going to shoot the victim. Later in the day, after much of the arguing and fighting had taken place, Trish then acted on her statements from earlier and shot her husband. She then proceeded to chase her wounded husband with the firearm, and attempted to shoot him in the head, only failing due to a malfunction of the weapon," the affidavit states.

The husband ran to a neighbor's house for help. Police say Andreen threw her weapon off of a balcony in an attempt to hide it before officers arrived. A SWAT team was called out and arrested Andreen without further incident.

Correction: A police affidavit states Andreen was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail by an officer from the South Jordan Police Department, but the incident happened in West Jordan.
