WEST VALLEY CITY — One man is dead and two others are critically injured after two separate stabbings and a shooting overnight in West Valley, police said.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a stabbing at an apartment complex at 4178 S. 4080 West. When officers arrived, they located a man inside an apartment with several stab wounds, according to West Valley Police Lt. Robert Brinton.
Officers began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and transported the man in critical condition. The man was pronounced dead at a hospital approximately 45 minutes later Brinton said.
While at the scene, officers learned that the man was knocking on doors in the complex after he had been stabbed. The man, who also resided in the complex, was let inside an apartment where the residents called 911.
"Our detectives are out there right now trying to piece together everything. We have some limited information," said Brinton. "We do have some people that we'd like to speak with that maybe have more information, but we just don't know yet."
Shortly after the first incident, officers received a call about a shooting and stabbing at 4440 W. Trinity Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and located a man outside of the residence with a gunshot wound and a man inside with several stab wounds, according to Brinton. A gun and a knife were located at the residence by police.
Officers also found a woman at the scene who "was hysterical and couldn't get a lot of information out of her," he added.
The two men were transported to the hospital where they are currently in critical but stable condition, according to Brinton. The woman was also transported to the hospital as a precaution after she fainted.
"We don't really have any witnesses. So we're thinking that the female is going to have a lot of information for us," said Brinton. "I mean, at this point, we're just getting trying to piece together exactly what had transpired has a house."
Detectives are currently interviewing the woman to learn additional information, according to Brinton.
The identities of those involved in both incidents were not released.
