MAGNA — A brush fire burned west of the Saltair Marina on Saturday evening, causing smoke to be seen throughout the valley.
The fire, named the Marina Fire, was reported around 7 p.m., according to Aaron Lance, Unified Fire Authority's public information officer. While the fire burning between the frontage road and the lake was small, Lance said "it could be a long night."
Crews battling the fire estimated it is now between 75 and 100 acres and reported at 9:30 p.m. that it was 100% contained.
Structure protection was in place for the nearby marina.
The fire was not impacting traffic on Interstate 80 at the time, but was impacting drivers on the frontage road.
No structures were being threatened and no injuries had been reported as of 7:30 p.m.
