WEST JORDAN — A 17-year-old girl was shot in the leg in a drive-by shooting overnight Thursday in West Jordan, police said.

At 1:10 a.m., residents at a house in the 8200 South block of 1640 West reported the shooting. The girl was struck by multiple rounds, West Jordan police said in a statement.

First responders took her to a hospital with injuries that they said did not appear to be life-threatening.

While investigating the shooting, officers found a potential suspect vehicle and tried to stop it. The vehicle drove off and officers chased it, according to the statement. Police spiked the vehicle's tires and took three teenage boys into custody near 7100 West on state Route 201. The boys are ages 14, 16 and 17.

"Detectives are working to determine if these suspects were involved in the drive-by shooting," police said.

West Jordan Police officer Sam Winkler said the house is a known gang house and there have been at least two other shootings at the home before.
