SALT LAKE CITY — Police identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash in Salt Lake City on Saturday.

At 8:41 p.m., Salt Lake police received reports of a crash involving a pedestrian at 800 S. West Temple. West Temple was closed from 700 South to 800 South and 800 South from Main Street to 200 West while police investigated the crash.

Officers arrived on the scene and found a man on the ground with critical injuries. Officers immediately attempted life-saving efforts, including CPR, but the man died at the scene. Sunday morning, police identified the man as 65-year-old Martin Minteer.

Witnesses told officers that the involved vehicle continued southbound on West Temple and did not immediately stop. An investigation is underway to determine Minteer's exact location in the street and the speed of the car at the time of the accident.
