SALT LAKE CITY — Police have identified two men killed in a head-on crash on Redwood Road last week.

Glenn Maltby, 51, and Sean Gonzales, 41, died Thursday after the northbound van they were in hit a southbound garbage truck at 980 S. Redwood Road, Salt Lake police have said. It was not immediately known where the two men lived.

The driver of the garbage truck, who hit his brakes in an attempt to avoid the crash, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Details about what caused the van to cross into oncoming traffic, as well as how fast the vehicles were going at the time of impact, have not yet been released.

"This remains an ongoing investigation. There are no further updates to provide at this time," Salt Lake police said Tuesday.
