RICHFIELD — A 26-year-old hiker died Sunday after falling from a cliff near Richfield in Sevier County.

Candice Thompson, from Richfield, was hiking with her husband in the Bulls Head area when she fell around 75 to 100 feet around 1 p.m., according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.

Thompson's husband called 911 while running to her location. First responders arrived and began attempting life-saving measures before transporting Thompson to the hospital by ambulance after her vitals weren't stable enough to go by medical helicopter.

Thompson died from her injuries at the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing, but police say there is no evidence of foul play and believe the fall was an accident.
