ST. GEORGE — A small plane crashed in southern Utah on Thursday, injuring its two occupants.
About 1:45 p.m., the four-seater plane was seen going down just south of Stucki Farms and Washington Field Rd., a Washington Fire Department official said.
The plane hit the ground and skidded about 100 feet without rolling.
Both occupants, a man and a woman, needed to be extricated from the plane by first responders, Washington Fire Lt. Kory Klotz said.
The man and woman were described as conscious and alert after the crash. The man, however, was complaining of back pain and a possible broken back. The woman had cuts on her arms and face, and possibly sustained a broken jaw. They were taken to St. George Regional Hospital for treatment.
The pilot and passenger, a husband and wife, had been traveling to the St. George Regional Airport from Casper, Wyoming.
Police said the couple couldn't recall the events leading up to the crash. Its cause remains under investigation.
