SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah-based technology company has a new group at its helm — and it's a familiar name to the company.

In January, the Provo-based investment firm Clarke Capital Partners purchased a "significant stake" in Clearlink, a Salt Lake City-based digital marketing and tech company, the investment firm confirmed to KSL.com. The acquisition was first reported by Business Wire.

Though Sitel Group — which purchased Sykes Enterprises, Clearlink's parent company, in September — remains the majority shareholder of Clearlink, Clarke Capital will control the day-to-day operations at the Utah tech company.

With the acquisition brings a new CEO to Clearlink — James Clarke, the man who initially founded Clearlink in November 2001 and is the current CEO at Clarke Capital. He takes over for Ted Roxbury, who served as the CEO at the Utah company since August 2019, according to his LinkedIn page.

Through a spokesman, Clarke told KSL.com that Clearlink is a personal part of his professional career, as the company's name is a combination of his last name and his wife's maiden name, Earl, with the addition of "inc." Clarke sold the company in 2011 and later founded Clarke Capital, which has offices in Provo, Miami, New York City and London.

"It is the thrill of a lifetime to be back at Clearlink," Clarke said in an email. "With a seasoned team alongside me that can really take Clearlink to whole new level, we are enthusiastic about our growth prospects and category-creating prospects."

Clarke said he expects Clearlink to continue to grow, and said he doesn't expect downsizing or shifts in the company's personnel.

"There have been and will continue to be personnel changes, but we intend to grow in a very meaningful way," Clarke said.

Clearlink has roughly 1,500 employees at offices in different areas of the country, with the corporate headquarters based in Salt Lake City.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated Clearlink was founded in 2003, when it was founded in 2001.
