SALINA, Sevier County — A 13-year-old girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert out of Colorado was located in Utah on Wednesday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, troopers were trying to locate the girl, along with a person who was possibly involved in the Amber Alert, according to UHP. Troopers believed the person was driving west on I-70 near Green River.

UHP later located the vehicle several miles east of Salina on I-70. When a sergeant pulled up behind the car, the driver sped up to nearly 100 miles per hour, troopers said.

The driver got near some other officers, who had set up spike strips in case the car fled. The sergeant again tried to pull the car over, and troopers took the suspect into custody without any further incident. The female juvenile was also located in the car, UHP said.

UHP is coordinating with Aurora, Colorado, police in the case.

The man who was arrested was identified as 41-year-old Navarro Cathey, according to Colorado news reports. The girl, 13-year-old Ta-Kyrah Blackman, is safe, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
