DRAPER — Police say a man shot a woman and then drove away with her and two children on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at the Hampton Inn, 13711 S. 200 West, in Draper.
Just after 11:30 a.m., police received a call of a man and woman arguing in the parking lot of the hotel. Surveillance video shows the pair leaving the hotel along with a young boy, about 6 years old, and a baby in a car seat, according to a statement from Draper police.
At one point during the argument, the man pulled out a gun and fired toward the woman, police said, and it appeared that she was likely hit by the bullet.
The man, woman and both children then got in a car and drove away. They were located just before 5 p.m. in Elko, Nevada, police said.
The woman is currently being treated for a gunshot wound, police said. The children were not injured and are now in the care of child protective services.
The man, who was identified as Latterial Desmoes Jones, 33, was taken into custody, police said.
No other details were immediately available.
