SALT LAKE CITY — Longtime global communications specialist Aaron Sherinian has joined Deseret Management Corp. as senior vice president of global reach, company President and CEO Keith B. McMullin announced Wednesday.

Sherinian has more than two decades of accomplished service as a public relations and communications professional in the corporate, philanthropic and diplomatic sectors, building bridges between political ideologies, geographies and industries throughout the world.

"We are delighted to welcome a communications leader of Aaron Sherinian's stature to the Deseret Management Corp. family," McMullin said. "Aaron's passion for leveraging modern communications for positive global change will help DMC advance its mission in unique ways."

The addition of Sherinian comes at a time of media unrest as misinformation and disinformation has divided countries, political leaders and even families and individuals. "The mission and mandate of DMC is clearly meeting its moment," Sherinian said, noting the global need not just to coexist, but also to collaborate under a banner of light and truth.

"We live in a moment in history when innovative communications will either bring us together or break us apart," said Sheri Dew, DMC executive vice president and chief content officer. "Part of our mission — and a very significant part — is to bring people of diverse ideologies and backgrounds together. Aaron will help us leverage the groundbreaking work of DMC's companies and brands to meet this moment nationally and beyond."

Sherinian most recently managed global communications transformation at Philip Morris International, focused on civil society engagement and partnerships to enable a smoke-free future. Previously, he served as global communications director for the Aga Khan Development Network, headquartered in Paris, France, and Geneva, Switzerland. In this role he coordinated the global communications efforts during the Jubilee of His Highness the Aga Khan and the global Ismaili Muslim faith community.

Prior to that, he served as chief communications and marketing officer for the United Nations Foundation, during which time he helped build the Social Good Summit, #GivingTuesday and the Global Bureau Media Coalition. His career includes U.S. government service as a diplomat in the U.S. Department of State and leading public affairs efforts for the Millennium Challenge Corp.

"The business of media is connection and conversation," Sherinian said. "DMC is uniquely positioned to both elevate and deepen connections with people while helping faith and media establish a trusting, 21st-century relationship in today's civil society. It's time for this kind of conversation and I look forward to introducing my peers and colleagues to the talented and committed people of the DMC family and their unique mission."

Deseret Management Corp. operates commercial businesses owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Bonneville Communications, Deseret Book, the Deseret News, Deseret Digital Media, Radiant and Bonneville International, which operates media outlets in key markets in the United States.
