HURRICANE — A driver died Tuesday after crashing on a muddy road near Sand Hollow Reservoir, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

About 5:15 a.m., a Ford Expedition was driving west on state Route 7, according to a UHP statement.

"It had been raining and the road surface was wet and covered with mud. The driver lost control of the vehicle and went off to the right. The driver side of the vehicle struck a large three post sign," the statement says.
