SALT LAKE CITY — A man is in serious condition after being shot while attempting to break up a fight between two men around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday in Liberty Park, police said.
The man attempted to intervene after a physical altercation broke out, and was subsequently struck in the head with a gun and then shot in the leg by one of the men involved in the fight, according to Lt. Steve Wooldridge of the Salt Lake Police Department. The man was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, police said.
The suspect is reportedly a 19- to 24-year-old white man wearing a dark hoodie, shorts, and carrying a backpack, according to police. The man is still at large.
